Ornate Ghostpipefish
Scientific name: Solenostomus paradoxus
The Ornate Ghostpipefish is an extremely rare fish for this area, We were very lucky to see this pair in the Cleaner Station Gutter.
The Females are very large in comparison to the Male, and even though they are in the same family as the seahorses (Syngnathidae) the females have the job of carrying the eggs!
The Ornate Ghostpipefish have a typical stance on head down, and hide extremely well with their surroundings. So good luck when looking for them!
