The Black Coral Tree is very easily mistaken for a plant. The Black Coral is unusual in that is has very light brown to whitish leaves with a black stem.

The Black coral is usually found in the deeper water around the marine sanctuary zones. it is very vunerable to anchor damage and not opften found outside the zones.
The Black Coral Tree was a very sought after animal, and exploited for the jewelery market for it's black stem.
