Crimson-banded Wrasse

Scientific name: Notolabrus gymnogenis

The Crimson-banded Wrasse is a common fish around the Solitary Islands and is very often overlooked.
The vivid Crimson band is unfortunately not crimson at depth, and appears almost black. Only when a torch or flash of a camera illuminates the fish do you see it's true colour.
This picture is the female of the Crimson-banded Wrasse, and as you can see, it is a totally different!
