Tall-fin Batfish
Scientific name: Platax teira
Batfish are not a common sighting around the Solitary Islands, they are not an uncommon fish however.
So why don't we see them? We wondered, but they usually hang around where they can get a feed, and at the Solitary Islands, we don't feed any fish.
They can come quite close to you on your ascent and mid water, and if you want to look for them, they are sometimes seen in the Shallows of the "little Birdie" rock at South Solitary Island.
