Course content
We understand you have a busy lifestyle and your leisure time is important to you. Our performance-based training will ensure you’ll master all the necessary water skills before you undertake the Ocean Dive component of your course. This approach optimises your enjoyment of diving and maximises your progress through your Open Water training. We want you to enjoy your diving experience so you’ll come to love diving as we do.
During your Open Water Course you spend about one quarter of your course time in the pool, another quarter in the classroom learning diving principals and techniques, with DVD and audio-visual presentations. The remainder of the course covers the four open sea dives, aboard one of our three comfortable dive boats, with our certified PADI Instructors and Divemasters, swimming with marine life and as much or as little excitement and adventure to suit you!. It's called learning to dive by doing just that, DIVING!
Schedule
The Open Water Diver course is run over 4 days. This can be full time, or part-time.
Day 1 – In one of our two classrooms, you will learn the basic concepts you need when scuba diving. Your instructor will make sure you have the required level of knowledge to continue with your training.
Day 2 – Gear up! Today you'll head to the pool and be introduced to breathing underwater. You'll learn the skills that are necessary to keep you safe on your ocean dives.
Day 3 - You will do two dives today at South Solitary Island in the magnificent Solitary Marine Park from one of our three comfortable dive boats.
Day 4 – Two more dives today, again at South Solitary Island from one of our three comfortable dive boats, where cap’t Steve or Mitch will keep you entertained with a song… “row row row your boat” (its ok, we’re kidding!)
After day 4 you will be certified to dive to 18m with a buddy, anywhere in the world!
The reward is a PADI 5 STAR gold card recognised world-wide.
If you want to continue your training from here, it's time to go on to the PADI Advanced Open Water Course where you will be given an introduction to navigation, deep and other types of diving.
