Choose to do your Scuba Dive Course in Coffs Harbour.Australia New South Wales very own tropical diving!
Backpacker prices with fantastic dives! Scuba Dive in warm waters like the Great Barrier Reef in Queensland, not colder waters of Sydney!
Travellers backpacking around Australia will see some fantastic places. Why not, while you are backpacking, go Scuba Diving! Most Backpackers come into Australia through Sydney, they stay in Sydney for a while and then head north! Some become Scuba Divers in Sydney, others choose to get their PADI Open Water Scuba Diver certificate in warmer water, and think that the Great Barrier Reef In Queensland is the only place in Australia to Scuba Dive! If you go past the Solitary Islands Marine Park at Coffs Harbour, you have just missed the Best Diving! Jetty Dive has high quality Backpacker PADI Dive Courses! We have been teaching Backpackers for over ten years with great value courses! Read on and find out why!
Why Learn to Scuba Dive at Jetty Dive, Coffs Harbour?
It's some of the best Scuba diving on the east coast of Australia That includes the Great Barrier Reef!. We can show you more adventure! The Solitary Islands Marine Park is a mixture of warm and cold water fishlife, so you don't only get the tropical fish, but also some adventure like the Grey Nurse Sharks! We quite often introduce Turtles, Rays, Nemo's and Dory's, Big fish and Grey Nurse Sharks to you during your course, especially if you are at South Solitary Island!
You will see heaps! Our water is clean! It varies a bit, but we normally have over 10 metres visibility (how far you see underwater!), where you will dive and much more at South Solitary Island. Compare this to reports of an average of less than 5 metres at locations like Sydney in NSW, Bundaberg and Magnetic Island in Queensland. Most of your time underwater with us is looking around, you will be enjoying it more with us, and see lots more!
The water is warmer than the Southern Great Barrier Reef We have water temp between 18c and 26c, quoted temperatures in Queeensland at Bundaberg in winter is 16c! Sydney is much cooler than Coffs Harbour too, between 2 and 4c lower!
Groups are not too big!We start with courses between Four and Six students, and if there is more than that, the group is split up in the ocean dives, so it will always be small groups.
The Boat trips are much shorter. In Cairns, a boat trip to the Great Barrier Reef will take all day, the distance is much further, and no wonder they are more expensive. Our trips are half day Double Dives.
The Dives are Boat dives with ideal depth of water for training We will train you to deal with all conditions, your first two dives will take you to 12 metres, and your second two will be up to 18 metres deep, since you will be certified to that depth, it's a good idea to experience it. Some areas in Australia, they don't dive deeper than 5 metres!
We train with cold water equipment, It means you are trained for all environments! If you learn in the tropics, it is easier, but come to cooler water and you use thicker suits and more weight. We often see people on our boats that are trained in the tropics, struggle because their training did not involve the extra equipment we have. You will be able to dive anywhere!
Our prices are Real Value for Money
Backpackers usually search out the best prices they can. Learning to dive can be done in a lot of different locations, and the price is quite often determined by what is in the PADI Open Water Course.
Lets look at what is involved in a Padi course and some differences in cost
Part 1 - Theory sessions. The Open Water Diver theory can be done at home, on-line with PADI E-Learning!! or in a classroom, the cost of this component is not high to a Dive Centre, and usually no price difference for you to self learn. PADI E-Learning is fast becoming the way to learn, you can do it at home (or anywhere online!) before your Backpacking Trip!
Part 2 - Pool training sessions. Usually with Backpacker type courses, a minimum number of students are required to participate, obviously to spread the cost of an Instructor over the group . We offer our standard Backpacker course based on 6 students.
Part 3 - The Four Open Water Dives
This is what can vary for different courses!! Do you want your first time to be uncomfortable, and put you off? Watch what you are paying for! We offer the closer areas of The Solitary Islands Marine Park in the Backpacker course, to keep the cost down. We know that you will enjoy it, but we also offer our best diving on courses too. You choose where to Dive and what cost!
