The new Australian Skills Quality Authority (ASQA), Nationally Recognised training course RTD3508A: Perform diving for scientific purposes – the PADI Scientific SCUBA Diver course will give you the Qualifications. In order to complete the Course, all prerequisite courses must be completed in accordance with the ASQA Nationally Recognised training course that is associated with that level which includes:
Certification of PADI Open Water or equivalent with the addition of theory and rescue skills. Certification of PADI Advanced Open Water with the compulsory inclusion and Logbook proof of: Deep Diving, Navigation Diving, Night Diving, Search and Recovery Diving, Peak Performance Buoyancy, Underwater Naturalist or Aware Fish ID and Underwater Photography or Videography If all you have is the Padi or equivalent courses, further competency will be needed to achieve accreditation of these courses. Total package $1,295.00 FAQ'sQuestion: I am a PADI Rescue Diver, What will I need to do before starting the Sci-Diver course?Answer: All your qualifications are good for recognition, however we need to convert them to RTO based qualifications. The Open Water Diver needs to have a extension including “Plan for minimal environmental impact and Plan outdoor recreation activities” to be completed. This gives you the SROSCB001A SCUBA dive in open water to a max depth of 18m qualification. The Advanced Open Water needs to have specific specialty dives completed including Deep, Navigation, Night, and three of the following: Search and Recovery, AWARE fish ID, Boat Dive, Digital Underwater Photography, Drift Dive, Enriched Air Dive, Multilevel and Computer dive, Peak Performance Buoyancy, Underwater Naturalist, Wreck dive and Underwater Videography dive. The conversion to SROSCB001A: Complete specialty open water dives qualification is needed. The Rescue Diver needs to have a brief extension to achieve the SROSCB007A Perform diver rescues qualification. For each qualification you need, it will cost $40 certificate fee. A HLTFA301B Apply First Aid is required. If that qualification is over 12 months old, a CPR and Basic Life Support update is required. If it is over 3 years old, you will need to renew the full Apply First Aid certificate. The cost of this course is $120 The SRXEMR003A Administer Oxygen in an Emergency Situation qualification is required, which is an extended Oxygen Provider course. If you need the CPR/Basic Life Support update, it can be done with this course. The cost of this course is $120 or $90 if completed with the Apply First Aid course Along with a AS2299 Dive Medical, that is all you need before starting your Sci Diver course!
