If you didn't go out today, you missed out. First up was Manta Arch with 25-30 Grey Nurse Sharks scattered around. Lots of schooling Bream and a few big Kingfish. The 2 Giant Cuttlefish are still hanging out at the Arch as was a Hawkesbill Turtle, probably hearing the dinner bell.
Dive 2 was down at Buchanans Wall, the resident cranky Blue Lip Anenomefish are still cranky. Quite a bit to see at Buchanans, Green Turtles, Lionfish, Moray Eels and quite a few Wobbygongs. Another Giant Cuttlefish and a Grey Nurse near Cable Trail. The Clown Trigger Fish is still around and a little High Tail Shrimp was spotted. Another good day under the water.

What we saw out there today!
There was quite a bit to see today at the northern tip of Split Solitary. A few different Surgeonfish, Sawtail, Pencilled and Mimic, Ornate and Spotted Wobbygong, one of them pretty big. A Giant Cuttlefish and a couple of smaller ones. One of our divers watched while it caught a Shrimp, then put on a light show. Usually they put on the light show first to lure them in, this one may still be learning.
No Turtles today, but there was an Eagle Ray and a couple of Stingarees, plus the usual that we see,Sweep, Old Wives, Pomfreds etc.. Some Whale song during the dives and Dolphins off the back of the boat.
Mike and Deb are in Tufi, PNG, away AGAIN, I hear you say and they have left you behind AGAIN? Its ok I'm quite used to it now. Anywho they have sent me a bit of a dive report and some photo's. So I thought I would share it with you, wet your appetite as we will be going back next year, I may even get to go!. Reports on the resort is that it is very nice, the staff are friendly and honest.
Visibility Report
Visibility at the outer reefs ranges from 30-40m, sounds pretty good.
Water Temperature
Temperature is a toasty warm, don't need your wetsuit, 29C.
Sea Conditions
Very nice sea conditions with a slight breeze.
What we saw out there today!

Well, so far our intrepid group of travellers have not really been able to see much of the outer reefs due to the continuous schools of Tuna, Mackeral and Barracuda getting in the way. They've seen Reef sharks and a Hammerhead, unfortunately its not the clearest shot as it was moving fast and was quite a distance away. But its still a Hammerhead.
There was a very big Queensland Grouper swimming towards them, while Deb, ever the professional took the photo's, Mike the big girls blouse ran away or rather swam away. There was a wreck dive off the wharf. An old PT from WWII, down at 45m, not much of the wreck left, torpedoes and a machine gun.
Visibility Report
Visibility was around 15m today, down a little from the last few days.
Water Temperature
Temperature also down a tad at 20C.
Sea Conditions
A 15kn cold SW breeze, no swell and just a slight current.
What we saw out there today!
The dives today covered five dive sites at South Solitary on two drift dives. Manta Arch to Cleaner Station, followed by Cleaner Station to South Boulder. If the divers had been at Buchanons Wall they would have been diving with a whale! About thirty Grey Nurse in total today around Manta Arch and Cleaner Station. Five Eagle Rays and three Giant Cuttlefish. Three Spanish Dancers, a big Loggerhead and a Hawksbill Turtle and the usual schooling fish on Boulder Wall. Another great day in the water.
Visibility Report
Visibility has been around 20m this week.
Water Temperature
Still holding at 21C.
Sea Conditions
Less than 10kn breezes from the SE on Weds and SW on Friday, less than 1m seas all week. Aslight half knot current running south.
What we saw out there today!
This report is a little different and will cover both Wednesday and todays diving. A little slack on Wednesday, didn't get around to doing a report.
Manta Arch, Cleaner Station, Shark Gutters, Boulder Wall and The Gantry have all been dived this week. Grey Nurse at Manta Arch, Cleaner Station, Shark Gutters and Boulder Wall. Turtles galore on Wednesday, but not one today. Eagle Rays, Bull Rays, Bait fish, still have the school of Batfish and the usual schooling fish. A couple of pretty big Cod at Cleaner Station and on Boulder Wall, heaps of Blue Grouper. Lionfish, Painted Cray and small Cuttlefish and three Giant Cuttlefish today. The Whales have been putting on a show and we could hear them singing today. Its been warmer in the water than out this week, makes a nice change.
