Visibility Report

Visibility at South Solitary was around 15m today.

Water Temperature

Temperature is still around 20C!

Sea Conditions

A slight 5kn SW breeze, some swell and no current to speak of.

What we saw out there today!

First up was Manta Arch, ten to twelve Grey Nurse at the Arch and a big Cod the size of a small car, ok, maybe not but he was pretty big. A pretty big Moray at the mooring and a Cowtail Ray at the end of the dive. No Giant Cuttlefish today, only a small one.
The second dive was Shark Gutters to The Gantry, lots of schooling fish, Tarwhine, Trevally, Black Surgeon Fish and Happy Moments. It seems it was Wrasse day today, Comb, Yellow, Blue Tail, Black Backed, Cut Ribbon and Jansen's Wrasse. Thats a lot of Wrasse. Barney the Loggerhead was happy to tag along with the divers for a while, it seems he has been head butting Urchins as he had a few spikes sticking out of his head, ouch! A small school of Juvenile Kingfish buzzing about and a Moses Perch (look it up, I had to and realised its something I see quite often).
Thanks for the many Wrasse report Craig.

Temperature is still holding at 20C.

Sea Conditions

A bit of a NW breeze, less than 10kn. A slight half knot current running south and a 1.5m swell at the northern end of the Island.

The first dive was a drift dive from Cleaner Station around to The Gantry, so much to see. Three Eagle Rays, ten Grey Nurse, two Loggerhead, one of them was Barney and he tagged along for most of the dive. The usual schooling fish all over Boulder Wall, a small Cuttlefish, heaps of Egg Cowries and a Mantis Shrimp. A great dive.
As there was just so much to see on the first dive, we did it again. Or some of it, Shark Gutters to South Boulder. Grey Nurse, a Giant Cuttlefish, lots of small Kingfish, Cod and Blue Groupers. Another good days diving.
